Alex Williamson is a London based Graphic Artist and Commercial Illustrator who also works in Moving Image and Graphic Design. Alex creates original artwork using cut-out, collage and print techniques, combining found ephemera, drawing and photography. Alex’s work has been featured in several international publications and he exhibits regularly.
Commercially represented by Debut Art Illustration Agency in both the UK and the US, Alex works on a wide range of commissions and projects in the publishing, corporate, editorial and advertising sectors.
‘Catalog’ is an ongoing long term project and experimental graphic identity in the vein of Kurt Schitter’s ‘Merz’ and Gerhard Richter’s ‘Atlas’. Under the guise of ‘Catalog’, Alex seeks to produce graphic work which continually appraises, challenges and develops his creative practice.
Alex’s recent clients include: Vodafone, Royal Mail, Johnnie Walker, The New Yorker, Rolling Stone Magazine, Penguin Books, MTV, Washington Post, Lastminute.com, Wall Street Journal, Levis, Havana Club Rum, Molson Beer, The Guardian, Time Out, Business Week, Orion, GQ, Macmillan, NatWest, Sony, Fortune Magazine, BBC Radio One, Random House, The Economist, ICM Models, McKinsey Quarterly, The Independent, The Face, Sunday Times, Financial Times, Esquire, FootLocker, Portobello Books, The Science Museum.
As part of Crooked Films, a motion graphics / film making partnership with animator Russ Murphy, clients have included: MTV, BBC, Channel 4, E4, Chrysalis, October Films, Big Life, Parlophone, Polydor, Rough Trade, Nickelodeon.
Alex also lectures in Illustration, Graphic Design and Moving Image at various art colleges and in addition teaches ‘Design for Interaction and Moving Image’ on the BA Graphic Design at London College of Communication.
